London let me introduce you to Hayley, the Aussie girl you have to put up with for at least 3 months! The first 72 hours has been an absolute whirl wind! From anxiety through the roof to the point I was having a mini panic attack thinking WTF have I just decided to do.. to absolutely loving the city!
Firstly from both planes being delayed ever since I left Melbourne! Literally running to my connecting flight in Singapore in order to make it in time as well as being in a strange airport that I had no idea what was going on, so fair to say anxiety starting to take over. Wasn't pleasent at all!
23 hours later arriving in Heathrow was a blessing to get off those planes! Now you would expect it to be smooth sailing afterwards..
Well! The place we are staying is really nice, student accommodation in Notting Hill plus it being a really nice area.. Let's say as soon as I got into my room it went down hill - not exactly something you want at 10am after a ridiculously long flight! My belongings were locked inside as the key lock decided not to work at all and had to get to changed to a different room after I had already unpacked everything, then on top of that trying to get my new SIM to work after Telstra saying "yeah the phone is unlocked you won't have any trouble putting in a different network provider SIM", WRONGG!! Also being ridiculously tired on top of that didn't help, thats when the anxiety of WTF have I just decided to do kicked in.
Anyway safe to say that now everything is sorted, however it did get sorted at 4am London time as some idiot burnt pizza in the building and set off the fire alarm.. Not ideal, but at least it was a good time to contact home to sort this shit out! Can't complain too much because we do have a pretty god view from my window and just down the road from The Portobello Market :)
So when in London, Be a tourist right? Well.. my feet have never been so sore!! I would love to know how much walking I have done within the last 48 hours! Has to be done though.. So far we have seen Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, London Eye, Tower Bridge, Westminster Abbey, Piccadilly Circus, Tower of London, St James Park, Portobello Market and Borough Market - which had Kangaroo Burgers for 4 Pounds! What the actual! I'm still yet to find the Blue Door in Notting Hill! Also you can't go past a traditional Sunday English Roast either! Not going to lie.. I like home's more.. Sorry UK.
Internship side, I start my first day tomorrow! (Monday) ahhhhh! So excited but so nervous! I'll keep you updated!
Now i'm off to sleep!
